Ten-year-old California standout Yumena Berning is officially part of the Cobra Elite Team after a breakout 2025 season that turned heads at Loretta Lynn’s and the World Mini Grand Prix.
If you’ve been following amateur racing the past few years, you’ve probably seen Yumena’s steady climb. Her family points to a pivotal moment back in 2022 at Freestone Raceway, where she won the JS7 Spring Championship in the 51cc 4–6 class. Since then, the results have stacked up.
Results That Stand Out
This summer at Loretta Lynn’s, Yumena grabbed third overall in 65cc 7–9 and second overall in 65cc 7–9 Limited. She also took first overall at the Southwest Regional in 65cc 7–9 Limited to secure her spot at nationals. At the World Mini Grand Prix, she added three more podiums: second overall (65cc 7–9), third (65cc 8–10), and third (65cc 7–11).
“Yumena showed maturity, speed, and consistency all season,” said Cobra Elite Team Manager Clay Elliott. “She fits our culture and brings the kind of potential we love to develop.”
Her parents shared what the moment means to the family: “We’re incredibly honored and excited for Yumena to join the Cobra Elite Team. This has been a goal of hers for many years, and she’s worked hard to earn it.”
The Road to 2026
What’s next? Yumena will line up primarily in the 65cc 7–9 and 65cc 7–9 Limited classes, jumping into girls’ classes when available. Look for her at Mini O’s in Florida, the TX Winter Series, Spring A Ding Ding, the Texas Spring National, and regional qualifiers across the Northwest, Midwest, and Southwest. The goal is simple: keep improving, keep learning, and chase wins with the backing of the Cobra program.
Welcome to the family, Yumena—see you at the gate.
